for content seekers

What kinds of media platforms can I place my music selections?

Film, TV, commercials, documentaries, websites, industrials, video games, ring tones, and emerging media platforms. Any and all!  It is very important to let us know where you place your music so we can properly notify the appropriate PRO (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC) for any residuals that would go to the artists.

What if I can't find what I'm looking for?

We can help you find the right music for your project by reaching out to our artist community or even devise a customized music solution for you with our talented in-house creative team. Furthermore, our catalog is always being updated with new material.  We also know that the catalog is large and it is difficult to sift through hours of music. We can help!  If you contact us we'd be happy to help you in your search.  A great way to begin that dialogue would be to send a description or suggest a reference piece of music with which we can base our search on.

What are your rates to license a track of music?

Our rates vary depending on the size, scope and circumstances for each individual project. We understand every project has different budgets and constraints and we try our best to work with every situation.  Please contact us with your project details so we may provide you with a quote.

Is your library content exclusive to Chaotic Content?

It is mixed. Some tracks are exclusively cataloged to our library, and others are non-exclusive. If you are interested in a particular work or several works and this detail is of importance to you, please contact us and we’d be more than happy to help you.

Can I license a track exclusively?

Yes and no. We will review each exclusivity request individually and make decisions based on the artists' ability and willingness to exclusively license their music.

How does the Chaotic Content music player work? Can I download tracks directly from the player?

For all music player-related questions, please go the music player FAQ section.

for content providers

Does Chaotic Content take music submissions for your catalog? If so, what do you look for?

Absolutely! Although our forte is in world, ethnic, international and cultural crossover music, we encourage submissions from creators of all genres and styles. While we don’t discriminate in terms of musical styles, we certainly look to maintain a high standard of production, recording and sonic quality so every selection in our catalog is of a professional and commercially licensable quality.

I’m an artist/band/composer/label/manager. How do I get my music on the Chaotic Content library catalog to be placed?

There are 2 ways to submit your music. You can email our content manager at snoh@chaoticcontent.net with a link to your music or with attached mp3s. The second way is to snail mail your CD to Attention: Music Submissions, 912 Colorado Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90401. Based on a rigorous evaluation we'll notify you about whether your submissions have been selected for our catalog, usually within 1-2 weeks.  At that point we'll also forward you an artist licensor agreement outlining the terms. Your approved selections will be available and searchable on our catalog upon completing, signing and returning the agreement back to us. Please make sure that you control the masters for any music submissions. We encourage any and all genres, and look forward to hearing your music!

Aren't you worried people will illegally download the tracks and use them for free?

No. We can track all downloads made by all SEEKERS and will follow up with those who make frequent downloads. We understand that the immediacy of laying music to picture makes the decision process easier for editors, directors, and music supervisors. So it's simple:  If you use the track in any kind of project (this includes YouTube* videos and any kind of media platform that the public can view or hear), let us know and we will negotiate a deal. If not, then enjoy the download for personal use only.  Those who abuse this generous policy will be banned from the site.

* Usage of any music from Chaotic Content must be approved. Should we find videos on YouTube or other video sharing sites that contain Chaotic Content music, we will issue cease and desist orders and request the video be removed.

Is the artist licensor agreement on an exclusive or non-exclusive basis? In other words, can I license my music through other libraries or agencies while it is in the Chaotic Content library?

Chaotic Content offers both exclusive and non-exclusive options for content providers. Exclusive content means that your music is available to license through Chaotic Content and Chaotic Content only, and you will not be able to submit that particular selection to any other libraries. Non-exclusive content means you are free to simultaneously license your selection through any library without any limitations. Either way, you retain the rights and ownership to your works.

Why would I license exclusively through Chaotic Content if I can license non-exclusively and have the freedom to license through other libraries as well?

There are several reasons you may want to consider the exclusive route. First of all, you’ll receive a higher percentage of the sync licensing fee revenue for your work. Chaotic Content offers a 60% cut for exclusive content providers versus 50% for non-exclusive providers. Also, exclusive content tends to be licensed more frequently and garners a higher rate than non-exclusive content, meaning you’ll get a higher percentage of a higher figure more frequently.
